Number 1 Occupation of Twitter Users?

I don't know about you, but I am amazed over what many people that want to follow me on Twitter have in common. You would think the obvious trigger would be "podcasting", "recording engineer", or some other shared interests like "husband" or "father"; these are the things that I believe are in my 160 character profile. Maybe even "record label owner". I can't remember if that is in my profile, or not; it doesn't even matter, because the thing a bunch of these folks have in common is something I never knew existed in such copious amounts: "Internet Marketing Specialist". These people are everywhere! Internet Marketing Specialist. What is that?! What can they tell me about Internet Marketing that all the Google searches for the subject - including SEO (search engine optimization) can't? Do they want to be paid for that same information? There must be buckets of cash being poured into that industry to justify so many folks in that field.

Check out this little result I found by searching just on Twellow:
1,539 people found for Internet marketing

This reminds me of the whole IT profession. Everyone of those guys (and gals, sorry) that I've ever known or worked with have told me that when they run into a problem that they don't know how to fix (probably in many cases that would extend to anything beyond a re-boot), they just look it up on the Internet.

How do I get into this racket?

No offense to real genuine folks of the craft, but the Billy Mays' of the trade make me weary of Internet Marketing Oxy-Clean.

Even if you aren't an Internet Marketing Strategist you can still follow me on Twitter.
